Rocky River has worked hard to build a first rate school district that encourages families to move here. The reason that I decided to run for school board was to use my training and experience as Certified Public Accountant to protect our schools from the worst economic downturn that we have experienced in years.  The school board will need to take the leadership role in safeguarding the city’s most precious asset, its school system, during this economic down turn. I am currently managing the finances of a private company through these turbulent times and have worked with troubled companies in the past and have a record of success in these endeavors. The 5 members of the school board come from various different professions. During these times, someone with my financial experience is needed to navigate through these uncertainties. Shortly after the financial crisis last fall, I made a decision to get involved. I joined the school’s Strategic Core Team, the Finance Action and Implementation Teams and have met and worked with many of the school’s administration including the treasurer in developing the district’s strategic plan. I am serious and passionate about my desire to help the schools during these troubled times. I was the first candidate to file and have worked hard to win community support. I feel confident that as a school board member that I will be able to keep our schools financially sound.

• Graduated with honors from St. Edward High School in 1983
• Graduated cum laude from John Carroll University in 1987 in Accounting
• Earned Master of Business Administration degree from Cleveland State University in 1990 with a concentration in finance

The River public schools are an important asset of the whole community funded by all property owners whether they have kids in them or not. With less than 25% of the families currently having a student in the system, it is important to maintain community wide support for the schools. Having some diversity on the school board can help foster that support. This coupled with my financial experience as a CPA would allow me to serve the schools well as a board member.

Additionally my children are only in the 4^th and the 6^th grade and the decision for their high school education has not been made. Of all the school board candidates including those already on the board, I have the youngest children and have the most at stake in maintaining strong public schools.
